WHAT IS ORTHOTICS?

Orthotics are devices designed to support, align, or improve the function of a body part, typically the feet, ankles, legs, or back. Orthotics can be used to treat a wide range of conditions, including foot pain, plantar fasciitis, flat feet, high arches, bunions, ankle sprains, and knee, hip or back pain.

Orthotics can be custom-made to fit the specific needs of the individual, or they can be purchased off-the-shelf. Custom orthotics are typically prescribed by a healthcare professional, such as a podiatrist or orthopedic surgeon, and are designed to address the specific needs of the individual. They may be made of a variety of materials, including foam, plastic, or carbon fiber.

Off-the-shelf orthotics, also known as prefabricated orthotics, are available without a prescription and can be purchased at a pharmacy or sporting goods store. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes and are designed to provide general support and comfort.

Orthotics can be worn inside the shoes and are designed to modify the alignment or function of the feet or legs. They may help to improve foot or leg function, reduce pain, and prevent injuries. It is important to work with a healthcare professional to determine whether orthotics is appropriate for your specific needs and to ensure that they are properly fitted and adjusted.
